What's this course about?

Creating and delivering a winning pitch for investment is no easy task and can be incredibly daunting. Whether you’re a startup entrepreneur seeking support for your first bold step, or a corporate intrapreneur who needs to achieve stakeholder buy-in and a slice of some annual budget, there is a job to be done to convince investor(s). Can you be seen as a safe pair of hands as well as an exciting opportunity that should not be missed!? It’s all about hooking the audience. You need to make the complicated simple. You need to start with the end in mind and really understand your audience. How you tell your story is every bit as important as the content you write and what they see. Winning pitches connect emotionally and can be incredibly hard to say no to.

This course makes use of design thinking, visual thinking, business modelling and sprinting techniques to carefully help you build a solid pitch. You will work from the foundations all the way up to your inspirational story, visual style and compelling flair.

Your backdrop and tour guide for this course will be the storyline of fictional technology company called EL-X seeking funding to ultimately realise the dream of space elevators*. A space elevator is an alternative means of transporting people and objects into space. EL-X is in the early stages of preparing three pitches for investment. They are talking to a funding partner called P-X (for money), a manufacturing partner called M-X (for capability) and an aerospace partner called A-X (for scaling their route to market). This course will follow the journey of them designing, delivering and winning their pitch for investment with P-X (the funding partner) from which you will take advantage of the steps, tools and approach to design and test your own pitch.
